Santorini’s allure is undeniable, with its iconic white villas perched on cliffs, gazing out over the endless blue of the Aegean Sea. Yet, there’s a hidden gem on the island’s northeastern coast that offers a different kind of magic.
Imagine a landscape of black volcanic rock and lava-formed slopes, framed by lush vineyards - a serene escape from the usual hustle and bustle. This is where you’ll find the Magma Resort, a Santorini haven that perfectly marries luxury with nature’s raw beauty (and while you're here why not take a look at unusual architectural European destinations to travel to this Autumn).
Luxury and Tranquility at Magma Resort, Santorini
From the moment I arrived at Magma, I felt transported. The Cycladic architecture, seamlessly integrated into the rugged mountainside, offers breathtaking views of the sea from every room.
Here, the design is minimalist yet warm, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and elegance. The privacy of the property amplifies the sense of retreat, making it feel like a hidden sanctuary.
Reclining by the stunning infinity pool, its edge blending seamlessly with the horizon, was the perfect way to while away the days in the balmy Mediterranean heat. For even more seclusion, I often retreated to my private pool, soaking in the serenity.
The resort’s spa is a true highlight, offering treatments inspired by the volcanic surroundings. The rooftop yoga sessions in the Astra Lounge, with a panoramic vista, were the perfect way to start my day.
Culinary Delights and Unique Experiences
Dining at Magma is an experience in itself. The resort’s flagship restaurant, Magma Soul, features traditional Greek dishes with a twist, expertly crafted by Chef Lefteris Soultatos.
Expect mouthwatering dishes that incorporate fresh seafood and a variety of meats that embodied the rich flavours of the region. Colombo Restaurant was the perfect all-day dining option, especially with complimentary champagne breakfasts that set the right tone for the day.
Evenings often found me at the Astra Lounge, where private dining and cocktail classes added a touch of sophistication to the relaxed ambiance. The pool bar, an ideal spot for sun-soaked lunches and evening drinks, quickly became a favourite.
Wine lovers, rejoice - Magma offers private tastings that highlight the unique flavours of Santorini’s volcanic wines. These sessions were a delightful journey through the island’s viticulture, enhancing my appreciation for its distinct terroir.
A Unique Sanctuary in Santorini
Magma is the epitome of a luxurious retreat, where privacy and relaxation reign supreme. It’s a place where the island’s natural beauty and rich heritage are celebrated, offering a unique and enchanting escape.
If you’re seeking a sanctuary away from the crowds, where every detail caters to your comfort and indulgence, Magma is the place to be. This is paradise redefined, an experience that lingers long after you’ve left its volcanic shores.
